This is my ‘90s Giant ATX-830 hardtail, which I have rebuilt into a WWII bomber inspired single speed. I first got this bike brand new for my 16th birthday, and it has seen cars, houses and girlfreinds all come and go, as well as countless rides - hence the name ‘Ol Faithful’.
After grinding off the frame tabs and drilling holes to run the rear brake cable internally, it was repainted in satin green. This is complimented with a pin up girl for ‘nose art’ on the top tube, as well as some bomber inspired spoke cards that I made up.
The bike was rebuilt on a budget, the only new pieces being the Oury grips, Shimano V brakes and the DMR singlespeed kit. I did all the work myself, including the paint job with spraycans in the backyard.
Full build pics, from start to finish, can be seen here.
The urban cruising that I’m using this bike for hardly sees it receive much stress. Hell if my Dyno beach cruiser that weighs half a tonne and only has back pedal brakes is up to it, I’m sure this is. If I’m feeling the need for a good thrash, there’s a dually in the shed that’s more than up to it. And no, no drilled holes in the dually lol.
Since taking these pics Ive swapped the clipless pedals to some flats, so I don’t have to wear my riding clogs when I take it out for a spin.
lol. i’d like to see the grin when the frame snaps! these holes have been drilled at the highest stress points of the frame. i hear hospital food tastes great ;)

7One dynamite bike! Love that paint colour. What’s it called? And, where are the build from start to finish pics?
Cheers!
